Laying to rest a Sheriff or a fellow officer is one of the hardest jobs of the ASA Honor Guard. With pride in their
heart and in every move they make, these dedicated deputies always bring a
since of unity and pride whenever called upon.

Calling upon the ASA Honor Guard to attend a Deputies funeral is a call that every Sheriff prays they never have
to make. That is a call that Sheriff Danny Ormand was faced with when Deputy Stacy McMurrough was killed in the
line of duty on February 10, 2006. Touched by the presence of the ASA Honor Guard and the unity and pride they
brought to such a tragic time, Sheriff Danny Ormand and the citizens of Lafayette County donated a Ceremonial
Bugle in memory of Deputy McMurrough. Up until the time that Bugle was donated, the Honor Guard relied on
borrowing a bugle from other departments hoping that one was available when needed.
